A SUSTAINABLE SPORT FACILITY DEVELOPMENT
5-a-SIDE SOCCER
In considering the soccer 5-a-side game and plans for such a facility one must accept there are now various forms of this as preferred by whomever owns or builds a facility, viz
Wall and net surround as a rebound game played outdoors
Wall and net and roof surround as a rebound game played indoors
Indoor soccer with a wall surround and perhaps a net now played outdoors
Futsal as the official 5-a-side game
Whatever the game and/or rules as preferred, and whatever the wall and/or net design, this is a preference by whomever As is the playing surface!!
In respect of the facility and the game the playing surface is a critical factor and best considered in respect of:
Suitability, ie for the game/s to be played on the court and its potential use and market and Sustainability, ie
for soccer and as a more diverse and wider range of use to involve other sports (netball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, etc), roller-sport, wheelchair sport, and thus girls inclusion, and so on, being more community friendly as a sustainable development maintenance degradation and quality/uniformity of the surface safety longevity aesthetic which are all key aspects to a business operation, and the impact on environment and sustainable policies of and for communities, which are policies of Government
Sport Court as an option needs considering as a playing surface in any of the above facility design applications:-
